May 25, 2026 (MLN): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has arrived in Beijing following the conclusion of his official engagements in Hangzhou, where he is set to hold high-level meetings with Chinese leadership, including President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang, aimed at advancing cooperation under CPEC Phase-II and strengthening Pakistan–China economic and strategic ties.

During his stay in Hangzhou, the Prime Minister led a series of focused interactions with leading Chinese corporate executives across key sectors, including renewable energy, electric mobility, energy storage and pharmaceuticals, as part of broader efforts to attract investment and deepen business-to-business cooperation.

He engaged with Agnes Siu, CEO of Sheng Huo Neng Yuan Ke Ji Company, where discussions centered on expanding collaboration in the renewable energy sector, according to the press release.

The Prime Minister highlighted Pakistan’s growing clean energy demand and outlined government initiatives designed to facilitate investment, particularly in solar power projects.

In a separate meeting with Oscar Luo, Executive President of CATL, discussions focused on advanced battery technologies, energy storage systems, and integrated solar solutions to support Pakistan’s transition toward clean and sustainable energy.

He also met Danwei Shao, Chairwoman of StarCharge, where talks revolved around the development of electric vehicle charging infrastructure and smart mobility systems in Pakistan.

Additionally, Mr. Xin Yuan, President of Xiuzheng Pharmaceutical Group, called on the Prime Minister to explore cooperation in pharmaceutical manufacturing, healthcare services, and potential investment opportunities in Pakistan’s expanding medical sector.

The Prime Minister also visited the headquarters of Alibaba Group, where he was received by Executive Chairman Joe Tsai, further reinforcing engagement with major Chinese technology enterprises.

Across all meetings, both sides discussed opportunities for increased investment in Pakistan, including the establishment and expansion of manufacturing facilities.

The Prime Minister underscored Pakistan’s investment-friendly policies, ease of doing business reforms, and the importance of strengthening direct business-to-business linkages between Pakistani and Chinese enterprises.

The visit comes as Pakistan and China mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations, underscoring the long-standing strategic partnership between the two countries.
