May 22, 2026 (MLN): The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan has introduced the “SECP Talk Series,” a knowledge-sharing initiative designed to encourage policy discussions and enhance understanding of evolving global trends in finance, technology, regulation, and the economy.
The first session of the series featured internationally
recognised market strategist Christopher Wood, who spoke on key developments
shaping the global economy, emerging markets, investor sentiment, and the
outlook for capital markets amid ongoing geopolitical and economic
uncertainties.
The event was attended by SECP Commissioners, senior
officials, capital market stakeholders, and employees of the regulator.
Participants also took part in an interactive discussion
covering global investment patterns, monetary policy trends, technological
advancements, and the increasing importance of emerging economies in the
international financial landscape.
Speaking at the session, Ali Frid Khawaja said the
initiative reflects the regulator’s commitment to fostering continuous
learning, informed policymaking, and intellectual engagement within the
institution.
He noted that Pakistan’s capital markets possess strong
long-term growth potential and stressed the importance of staying aligned with
international financial developments and emerging market trends.
During his address, Wood shared insights on global market
movements, investor confidence, the influence of geopolitical developments on
financial markets, and growth opportunities available to emerging economies,
including Pakistan.
According to the regulator, the SECP Talk Series will
continue to invite prominent local and international experts to promote
dialogue, capacity building, and exchange of knowledge on critical economic and
regulatory matters, as per press release issued.
