July 18, 2023 (MLN): In response to growing concerns over the delayed publication of the Staff Report following the approval of the Stand-By Arrangement (SBA) for Pakistan on July 12, 2023, the official at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) stated, “The report will be published soon.”

Following standard procedure, the report is expected to be released within 28 days after the Board meeting, providing critical insights into the economic outlook and policy recommendations, the IMF official said in an email response to Mettis Link News.

Market analysts and policymakers are excitedly anticipating the publication of this report, as it could have noteworthy implications for the economy.

The document’s release will shed light on potential measures to boost economic growth, address financial weaknesses, and navigate worries.

On June 30, 2023, the long-standing Staff Level Agreement (SLA) worth $3 billion has finally been signed between IMF and Pakistan.

“The IMF team has reached a Staff-Level Agreement with the Pakistani authorities on a nine-month SBA in the amount of SDR2,250 million (about $3 billion or 111 percent of Pakistan’s IMF quota),” Mr. Nathan Porter who led the IMF staff team said in a statement issued on the same day.

The new SBA builds on the authorities’ efforts under Pakistan’s 2019 EFF-supported program which expires end-June. This agreement is subject to approval by the IMF’s Executive Board, which is expected to consider this request by mid-July.
