Cotton arrivals reach 1.43m bales as on August 01

August 03, 2023 (MLN): Cotton arrivals in Pakistan have reached 1.428 million bales as of August 01, 2023, data released by the Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) on Thursday showed.

The total cotton arrivals have increased by 66.5% as of August 01, 2023.

According to the PCGA, cotton arrivals from Sindh province, which is a major cotton-producing region, rose by 57.8% to 1.04m bales.

Meanwhile, cotton arrivals from Punjab province, another key cotton-producing region, increased by 95.4% to 388,568 bales.

Textile mills bought 1.284m bales and exporters bought 7,500 bales of cotton.

The cotton sowing target for the current season is approximately 2.764m hectares, indicating the extent of cultivation dedicated to cotton production.

In terms of cotton production, the target set for the current fiscal year is 12.7m bales, reflecting the government’s efforts to increase cotton output.

To note, the previous year’s cotton output stood at approximately 4.9m bales.

Pakistan is among the top ten cotton-producing countries in the world, and cotton and textile products are among the country’s major exports.
