March 20, 2020 (MLN): The KSE-100 surprised the market spectators on Friday, as it not only opened the session on a positive note but went on to gain 537 points to conclude the day at 30,667-level.

The sentiments of the investors were boosted after the governments and central banks around the globe took robust measures to cushion the economic blow from the coronavirus.

The Index traded in a range of 1018.01 points or 3.38 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 30,924.48 and a low of 29,906.47.

Of the 93 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 51 closed up 39 closed down, while 3 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 203.90 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 253 points, Commercial Banks with 206 points, Fertilizer with 140 points, Power Generation & Distribution with 52 points and Tobacco with 24 points.

The most points added to the index was by ENGRO which contributed 108 points followed by HBL with 108 points, OGDC with 92 points, PPL with 84 points and POL with 52 points.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Cement with 53 points, Textile Composite with 38 points, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 30 points, Food & Personal Care Products with 15 points and Insurance with 15 points.

The most points taken off the index was by DAWH which stripped the index of 30 points followed by SNGP with 22 points, NML with 18 points, MEBL with 18 points and MLCF with 16 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 63.35 Million to 245.00 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.108.67 Billion.

Total companies traded were 344 compared to 358 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 179 closed up, 152 closed down while 13 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 54 to 83,319.

Value Traded decreased by 1.64 Billion to Rs.8.47 Billion
