June 10, 2020 (MLN): The local bourse witnessed moderate gains on Wednesday, adding 261 points to the KSE-100 Index to close at 35,065-mark on hopes COVID-19 pandemic is approaching to its peak.
Investors’ sentiments improved on the positive news flows of approval of loan deferment for Pakistan from Paris Club while the government and IMF budget talks successfully concluded.
The Index remained positive throughout the session touching an intraday high of 35,113.97
Of the 97 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 49 closed up 46 closed down, while 2 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 139.85 million shares.
Sectors propping up the index were Commercial Banks with 273 points, Pharmaceuticals with 24 points, Textile Composite with 17 points, Technology & Communication with 15 points and Tobacco with 5 points.
The most points added to the index was by HBL which contributed 67 points followed by UBL with 59 points, BAFL with 37 points, MEBL with 31 points and MCB with 25 points.
Sector wise, the index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 36 points, Cement with 10 points, Power Generation & Distribution with 7 points, Insurance with 7 points and Engineering with 7 points.
The most points taken off the index was by OGDC which stripped the index of 21 points followed by MARI with 14 points, EFUG with 6 points, ISL with 4 points and HUBC with 4 points.
All Share Volume decreased by 19.63 Million to 218.66 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.36.72 Billion.
Total companies traded were 371 compared to 357 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 199 closed up, 152 closed down while 20 remained unchanged.
Total trades decreased by 1,978 to 94,776.
