NICL approves Rs3bn capex for Palmitic Acid, CPW expansion

September 09, 2026 (MLN): A capital expenditure of Rs3.0 billion has been approved for three key strategic initiatives at Nimir Industrial Chemicals Limited (PSX: NICL), covering the establishment of a new Palmitic Acid plant, expansion of the Chlorinated Paraffin Wax (CPW) and Chlorine Liquefaction plants, and the relocation of one Oleochemicals plant from Sheikhupura to Hub, Balochistan.

The decision was taken at a Board of Directors meeting held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.

Palmitic Acid, used in animal nutrition for milking cows, will create a new business line for the Company, with additional products planned for this segment.

Following the localization of CPW in Pakistan, demand has grown significantly and is expected to increase further in the coming years. To meet this demand, the CPW plant will be expanded along with the chlorine plant, which is its basic feedstock.

The benefits of these capital expenditures are expected from FY28 onward.

The relocation of the oleochemicals plant will strengthen the Company's presence in the southern region, support local demand, and enhance export opportunities through sea routes.
