October 5, 2020 (MNL): The KSE100 index lost approximately 998 points on Monday and ended the session at 39,072 points i.e. 2.49 percent lower as compared to the previous close.  

Political instability, decline in international stock markets, as well as increase in the CPI resulted in over-selling, especially during the first half of the session. With such strong negative factors in place, the index remained negative throughout the session, touching an intraday low of 38,864.77

Of the 95 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 4 closed up and 91 closed down. Total volume traded for the index was 277.94 million shares.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Commercial Banks with 130 points, Power Generation & Distribution with 113 points, Fertilizer with 111 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 103 points and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 71 points.

The most points taken off the index was by HUBC which stripped the index of 74 points followed by ENGRO with 56 points, PPL with 50 points, TRG with 36 points and COLG with 32 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Glass & Ceramics with 4 points.

The most points added to the index was by DAWH which contributed 8 points followed by GHGL with 3 points and KOHC with 1 point.

All Share Volume increased by 61.36 Million to 409.95 Million Shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs.205.82 Billion.

Total companies traded were 417 compared to 398 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 31 closed up, 372 closed down while 14 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 11,219 to 121,632.

Value Traded increased by 0.15 Billion to Rs.12.59 Billion
