PSX Closing Bell: Small Victories

August 22, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Friday's trading session at 149,493.05, showing an increase of 257.79 points or 0.17%.

The index remained positive throughout the day showing an intraday high of 150,465.17 (+1,229.91) and a low of 149,448.93 (+213.67) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 335.53 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 59 closed up, 41 closed down, while 0 were unchanged.

Top gainers during the day were PIBTL (+6.27%), AKBL (+4.99%), AGL (+4.90%), YOUW (+4.42%), and PKGS (+3.83%).

On the other hand, top losers were SEARL (-9.78%), SCBPL (-4.08%), PAEL (-3.00%), NML (-2.11%), and PGLC (-2.11%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were FFC (+90.74pts), NBP (+59.78pts), AKBL (+53.61pts), OGDC (+46.57pts), and PSO (+36.40pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were SEARL (-102.39pts), MEBL (-65.37pts), ENGROH (-49.58pts), LUCK (-41.56pts), and EFERT (-28.51pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Commercial Banks (+106.27pts), Fertilizer (+76.68pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+72.67pts), Cement (+35.56pts), and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (+35.39pts).

While the index was let down by Pharmaceuticals (-111.35pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (-42.67pts), Cable & Electrical Goods (-23.09pts), Textile Composite (-16.97pts), and Chemical (-14.19pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 91,988.09 with a net gain of 74.03 points or 0.08%.

Total market volume was 802.01 million shares compared to 1,062.99m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs40.45 billion showing a decrease of Rs15.37bn.

There were 378,256 trades reported in 478 companies with 251 closing up, 198 closing down, and 29 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 23,866 points or 19.00% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 34,366 points or 29.85% so far this calendar year.
