August 12, 2025 (MLN): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has expressed satisfaction over Gallup Pakistan’s latest Business Confidence Index report which shows business sentiment toward the country’s economic direction reaching its highest level in nearly four years.

According to the survey, 46% of businessmen now rate the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government’s handling of the economy as better than its predecessor compared to just 24% a year ago.

The Prime Minister termed this “extremely encouraging,” reiterating the government’s resolve to provide greater facilitation for the business community and investors while expanding consultation with stakeholders.

The Gallup survey highlighted a significant rebound in perceptions of the country’s overall direction with the “Direction of the Country Score” improving to -2%, the best since Q4 2021.

It also found that 61% of respondents now describe their current business operations as “good” or “very good,” marking a six percentage point improvement over the previous quarter.

While acknowledging the positive shift, the Prime Minister noted that the government remains committed to addressing structural challenges such as inflation, high energy costs, and taxation, as identified by survey respondents.

He stressed that sustained momentum will depend on policy consistency, macroeconomic reforms and greater institutional responsiveness.

The PM reaffirmed that the government’s focus will remain on ensuring stability, facilitating investment and strengthening the partnership between the public and private sectors to further improve Pakistan’s business climate.
