PKR weakens by 21 paisa against USD

June 16, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) depreciated by 20.84 paisa or 0.07% against the US dollar in Monday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 283.17 per USD, compared to previous closing of 282.96.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 282.5 and a low (ask) of 285.15

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 283.00 for buying and 285.15 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR depreciated 1.46 rupees or 0.45% against the Euro, closing at 327.86 compared to the previous value of 326.40.

Against the British Pound, PKR weakened by 91.97 paisa or 0.24% to 384.60 compared to 383.68 a day ago.

The local unit deteriorated 2.05 paisa or 0.01% against Swiss franc to close at 348.50.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value gained 0.44 paisa or 0.22% to close the session at 1.9626 versus 1.9670 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee fell 3.26 paisa or 0.08% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.44 from 39.40.

The local currency deteriorated by 7.96 paisa or 0.11% against Saudi Riyal to 75.45. While it weakened by 6.09 paisa or 0.08% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 77.11.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has depreciated against the US Dollar by 4.83 rupees or 1.71%. While it has fell 4.62 rupees or 1.63% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched up by 3bps to 10.84% and 11.09%.
