PKR increases by 54 paisa against USD

July 24, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) rose by 53.90 paisa or 0.19% against the US dollar in Thursday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 284.22 per USD, compared to previous closing of 284.76.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 286.0 and a low (ask) of 287.55.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 286.50 for buying and 288.30 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR gained 6.45 paisa or 0.02% against the Euro, closing at 334.34 compared to the previous value of 334.41.

Against the British Pound, PKR strengthened by 24.68 paisa or 0.06% to 385.46 compared to 385.70 a day ago.

The local unit appreciated 1.68 rupees or 0.47% against Swiss franc to close at 358.09.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value fell 0.03 paisa or 0.02% to close the session at 1.9409 versus 1.9406 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee increased 2.73 paisa or 0.07% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.73 from 39.76.

The local currency rose by 14.57 paisa or 0.19% against Saudi Riyal to 75.76. While it gained by 14.67 paisa or 0.19% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 77.38.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has deteriorated against the US Dollar by 45.43 paisa or 0.16%. While it has weakened 5.67 rupees or 1.99% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates fell by 12bps to 10.62% and 10.87%.
