Weekly SPI eases by 0.19 percent

March 22, 2019: The weekly inflation for the combined income group during the week ended on March 21 witnessed a decrease of 0.19 percent as compared to the previous week.

The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week under review was recorded at 248.30 points against 248.77 points registered in the previous week, according to data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

As compared to the corresponding week of last year, the SPI for the combined group increased by 12.12 percent.

Meanwhile, the SPI for the lowest income group decreased by 0.25 percent as it went down from 228.53 points to 227.95 points in the week under review.

As compared to the last week, the SPI for the income groups from Rs 8,001-12,000, Rs 12,001-18,000, 18,001-35,000 and above Rs 35,000 also decreased by 0.21 percent, 0.21 percent, 0.20 percent and 0.15 percent respectively.

Moreover, the average prices of 22 items registered a decrease, while that of 9 items increased and the prices of remaining 2 items remained unchanged.
