Trading activity at PMEX drops by 10.5% DoD

April 29, 2024 (MLN): The trading activity at the Pakistan Mercantile Exchange (PMEX) on Friday took a dip of 10.5% DoD to clock in at Rs28 billion compared to the previous session close of Rs31.28 bn.

At the same time, with a drop of 6.76% DoD in the number of lots traded, 16,897 lots changed hands, compared to 18,123 during the previous session. While, the commodity exchange closed at 10,432, down by 0.5% DoD.

Gold remained in the limelight, contributing significantly to the trading volume with transactions worth Rs12.56bn. Following closely behind, Currencies through COTS recorded trading valued at Rs8.03bn.

NSDQ 100 also made a prominent spot, clocking in at Rs3.17bn. In addition, Crude Oil, Silver, Platinum and Paldium attracted substantial attention from investors as well and their transactions stood around Rs1bn, Rs821 million, Rs875m and Rs136m, respectively.

Moreover, Natural Gas transactions reached Rs74m, DJ at R171m, Copper at Rs225m, S&P 500 at Rs95.71m, JPY equity at Rs572 and Brent at Rs145.44m.

In the agricultural commodities segment, Cotton saw active trading, with 07 lots amounting to Rs7.88m changing hands.
