September 03, 2022 (MLN): Pakistan’s textile exports have increased by 6% YoY to $1.55 billion in August 2022, as compared to $1.46bn in August 2021, All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) revealed on Friday.

The growth in textile exports has been reduced to single digit from double-digit due to the lack of energy supplies.

Similarly, on a sequential basis, the textile exports have inched up by 4.73% MoM, compared to $1.48bn in July 2022.

In 2MFY23, the exports from the same sector witnessed a meager growth of 3% YoY to $3.03bn.

Given these numbers which indicate an alarming situation, the trading body has warned, “If reliable, affordable supplies were not made available, this could contribute to sluggish growth in ensuing months.”
