July 20, 2022 (MLN): To combat the shortfall between the supply and demand of electricity, the government of Sindh has extended the energy conservation plan as per which all the markets and shopping malls will be closed by 9 pm.
These establishments shall observe one day a week as a closed holiday either Friday or Sunday.
All the hotels, restaurants, coffee shops, cafes, clubs, gyms, cinemas, theatres, circus, and other places of amusement and entertainment will remain open till 11:30 pm while the marriage halls, and banquets shall be closed by 10:30 pm.
However, medical stores, milk shops, bakeries, and petrol pumps are exempted from this order.
All the billboards and advertisement hoardings etc illuminated through electric connections shall be turned off by 9:00 pm.
The notice further directed that there shall be no specific closing hours for the “Saturdays” for all types of the categories mentioned in this order.
This order will remain in force till August 16, 2022.
To recall, the Sindh government on July 17, 2022, announced an energy conservation plan for a month to deal with the ongoing energy crisis.
