SIFC-backed strategy to curb grey market announced by govt

August 30, 2024 (MLN): The federal government has worked out a new strategy to control the grey market with the support of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), the Information Ministry reported.

The State Bank of Pakistan and the Federal Board of Revenue have been directed to conduct a campaign against informal channels.

Furthermore, the government has directed the Finance Secretary to restore the cash-over-counter facility at National Bank branches and border booths.
