Secretary General, World Customs Organization, Kunio Mikuriya calls on Finance Minister, Ishaq Dar

In a meeting held with Mr. Kunio Mikuriya, Ishaq Dar said that, “Measures are being taken in order to improve and upgrade customs procedures in Pakistan in line with international standards.”

Highlighting his commitment to increase ease of doing business in Pakistan and to improve the trade situation he said that, “Steps also being taken for facilitation of border and regional trade.”

Finance Minister, Ishaq Dar and Mr. Kunio Mikuriya agreed over the need of having greater Pak-World Customs Organization co-operation and linkages. Mr. Kunio and Mr. Ishaq Dar emphasized the need for increased partnership with other countries in the world to increase the network.

Also, Mr. Kunio Mikuriya applauded Pakistan’s efforts by saying that, “Improvement in system of Customs under present government very visible and impressive.”

Secretary General also identified the potential between the two countries. He said that “Would be happy to co-operate with Pakistan for further improvement in system of customs.”

The meeting was attended by Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Revenue Mr. Haroon Akhtar Khan, Chairman FBR Mr. Tariq Mahmood Pasha and also some senior officials from Ministry of Finance.
