Sale of passenger cars declines by 44.4 percent YoY in November

December 10, 2019 (MLN): The sale of passenger cars during the month of November 2019 stood at 8,524 units against the production of 6,744 units, a monthly report by Pakistan Automotive Manufacturer's Association (PAMA) revealed on Tuesday. This translated into a decline of 10.92 percent on a monthly basis and 44.4 percent on a yearly basis.

The cumulative number of passenger cars sold during the Fiscal Year 2020 amounted to 49,110 units, i.e. 44.12 percent lower as compared to total sales made in the same period of last year.

The maximum number of sales were made within the category of ‘below 1000cc’ engine, at 3,539 units. Within this category, Suzuki Alto recorded the maximum sales at 2,967 units.

Within the ‘1300cc and above’ category, 3,430 units were sold wherein Toyota Corolla made the highest sales at 2,172 units, followed by Honda cars which sold 1,074 units. On the contrary, 1,555 units were sold within the ‘1000cc’ category, amongst which Suzuki Cultus sold 914 units and Suzuki WagonR sold 641 units.

The total number of trucks sold during the month increased by nearly 39.8 percent MoM at 330 units. Nonetheless, truck sales dropped by around 42.2 percent as compared to 615 units sold in November last year. Within this segment, Isuzu made the maximum sales at 163 units, while Hino took the second lead by selling 132 units during the said period.

The total number of Buses sales stood at 53 units, signifying a decline of 16.7 percent MoM and 20.89 percent YoY. The major sales within this category came from Hino and Master, as they both sold 29 units each.

The total number of jeeps sold during the period under review fell by 24.8 percent MoM at 338 units, while total number of tractors sold declined by 36.4 percent MoM at 1,818 units.

Lastly, the total number of two wheelers and three wheelers sold in November amounted to 144,029 units, i.e. 8.18 percent lower than sales in last month, and 1.6 percent higher than the sales made in same month of last year.
