PSX Closing Bell: Ups and Downs

Intraday Report: KSE-100 jumps 590pts

February 19, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 index ended Monday's trading session at 60,459.75 showing an increase of 586.79 points or 0.98%.

The index traded in a range of 1,312.62 points showing an intraday high of 60,504.48 (+631.52) and a low of 59,191.86 (-681.11) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 index was 126.223 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 51 closed up, 38 closed down, 3 were unchanged, while 8 remained untraded.

KSE-100 index was supported by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 267.91, Power Generation & Distribution with 86.13, Cement with 58.05, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 53.47, and Automobile Assembler with 40.57 points.

On the contrary, the index was let down by Chemical with 23.77, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 12.43, Leather & Tanneries with 11.46, Property with 8.09, and Paper & Board with 4.47 points.

Companies adding points to the index were OGDC with 149.48, PPL with 128.51, HUBC with 75.93, ENGRO with 37.06, and BAHL with 29.51 points.

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were UBL with 27.32, NESTLE with 20.04, COLG with 14.4, DAWH with 13.46 and POL with 13.14 points.

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 40,792.93 with a net gain of 406.15 points.

Total market volume was 261.800 million shares compared to 314.901 from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs9.91 billion showing a decrease of Rs2.35bn.

There were 148,405 trades reported in 329 companies with 170 closing up, 138 closing down and 21 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 19,007 points or 45.85% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative decrease of 1,991 points, equivalent to 3.19%.
