CPI Preview: Inflation to fall to around 17% YoY in April

February 25, 2022 (MLN): Following global markets, the domestic equities opened on a positive note on the last trading session of the week. The benchmark KSE-100 Index traded in the green for the most part of the day.

The index touched an intraday high of 366 points, closing at 43,984.24 after a gain of 153.73 points or 0.35% DoD.

The Index traded in a range of 390.95 points or 0.89 percent of the previous close, showing an intraday low of 43,805.04.

Of the 92 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 55 closed up 32 closed down, while 5 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 90.04 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Fertilizer with 70 points, Commercial Banks with 26 points, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 22 points, Food & Personal Care Products with 20 points and Tobacco with 16 points.

The most points added to the index was by FFC which contributed 32 points followed by MEBL with 27 points, ENGRO with 22 points, PAKT with 16 points and UNITY with 15 points.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 40 points, Technology & Communication with 21 points, Cement with 11 points, Cable & Electrical Goods with 4 points and Real Estate Investment Trust with 3 points.

The most points taken off the index was by NBP which stripped the index of 30 points followed by PPL with 25 points, TRG with 20 points, OGDC with 17 points and MCB with 15 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 108.42 Million to 241.64 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.38.64 Billion.

Total companies traded were 356 compared to 377 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 200 closed up, 130 closed down while 26 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 20,687 to 103,006.

Value Traded decreased by 2.01 Billion to Rs.6.74 Billion
