August 01, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Thursday's trading session at 77,740.30, showing a decrease of 146.68 points or 0.19%.

The index traded in a range of 645.10 points showing an intraday high of 78,241.02 (+354.04) and a low of 77,595.92 (-291.06) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 97.02 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 34 closed up, 57 closed down, while 9 were unchanged.

Top losers during the day were POML (-3.95%), BAFL (-3.69%), PIBTL (-3.38%), YOUW (-3.23%), and SCBPL (-3.07%).

On the other hand, top gainers were FFC (+3.76%), PABC (+3.57%), BWCL (+2.56%), THALL (+2.39%), and MUREB (+2.04%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were UBL (-98.12pts), BAFL (-53.47pts), MARI (-27.75pts), PPL (-27.70pts), and BAHL (-21.67pts).

Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were FFC (+150.40pts), LUCK (+27.10pts), HBL (+25.63pts), MEBL (+17.29pts), and POL (+13.61pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Commercial Banks (-176.76pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-57.16pts), Food & Personal Care Products (-26.50pts), Pharmaceuticals (-12.41pts), and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (-10.76pts).

While the index was supported by Fertilizer (+122.36pts), Automobile Assembler (+13.48pts), Technology & Communication (+11.99pts), Automobile Parts & Accessories (+11.66pts), and Miscellaneous (+8.82pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 49,361.74 with a net loss of 111.72 points or 0.23%.

Total market volume was 278.99 million shares compared to 382.60m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs13.09 billion showing a decrease of Rs1.54bn.

There were 166,797 trades reported in 433 companies with 172 closing up, 198 closing down, and 63 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has lost 705 points or 0.90% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 15,289 points, equivalent to 24.48%.
