PSX Closing Bell: Stumbling Through

February 11, 2022 (MLN): Domestic equities remained range bound throughout the day today with the indices moved both ways amid lack of positive triggers until finally landing in green.

The Index closed at 46,079 points, showing an increase of 139 points or 0.30% DoD.

During the session, Cement sector stayed under pressure due to higher international coal prices. PSO also stayed under pressure due to zero payout in the financial result, a note by Arif Habib Limited cited.

The Index traded in a range of 305.74 points or 0.67 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 46,144.49 and a low of 45,838.75.

Of the 97 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 45 closed up 48 closed down, while 4 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 84.57 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Commercial Banks with 122 points, Miscellaneous with 27 points, Automobile Assembler with 21 points, Cement with 18 points and Technology & Communication with 18 points.

The most points added to the index was by MEBL which contributed 52 points followed by UBL with 31 points, MARI with 27 points, PSEL with 25 points and LUCK with 24 points.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 52 points, Fertilizer with 15 points, Pharmaceuticals with 9 points, Insurance with 7 points and Textile Composite with 7 points.

The most points taken off the index was by PSO which stripped the index of 47 points followed by ENGRO with 16 points, EFERT with 15 points, OGDC with 14 points and POL with 8 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 115.34 Million to 170.63 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.29.82 Billion.

Total companies traded were 358 compared to 367 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 143 closed up, 195 closed down while 20 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 23,752 to 95,079.

Value Traded decreased by 1.55 Billion to Rs.7.72 Billion
