PSX Closing Bell: Some Days Are Better Than Others

Sep 03, 2021 (MLN): The local bourse witnessed optimism earlier on Friday owing to the positive development as Pakistan's foreign exchange reserves reached $27.23 billion.

Though, in the later hours of the day, the market succumbed to profit booking which resulted the benchmark KSE100 index to end the trading session at 46,957.47, added only 54.41 points.

The Index traded in a range of 234.97 points or 0.50 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 47,115.95 and a low of 46,880.98.

Of the 93 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 38 closed up 53 closed down, while 2 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 113.76 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Technology & Communication with 78 points, Power Generation & Distribution with 13 points, Fertilizer with 12 points, Paper & Board with 10 points and Chemical with 8 points.

The most points added to the index was by SYS which contributed 73 points followed by HUBC with 14 points, MCB with 13 points, ABOT with 10 points and MEBL with 9 points.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Automobile Assembler with 22 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 17 points, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 9 points, Textile Composite with 8 points and Commercial Banks with 7 points.

The most points taken off the index was by HBL which stripped the index of 18 points followed by PPL with 9 points, MTL with 8 points, INDU with 7 points and NBP with 6 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 79.46 Million to 464.98 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.0.41 Billion.

Total companies traded were 526 compared to 530 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 201 closed up, 311 closed down while 14 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 32,231 to 124,100.

Value Traded decreased by 3.84 Billion to Rs.12.23 Billion
