PSX Closing Bell: Rare Air

December 04, 2024 (MLN): The Pakistan Stock Market continued its strong performance, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index gaining 545.26 points, or 0.52%, to close at a new high of 105,104.33.

The index traded in a range of 1,158.15 points showing an intraday high of 105,473.56 (+914.49) and a low of 104,315.41 (-243.66) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 697.65 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 54 closed up, 44 closed down, while 2 were unchanged.

Top gainers during the day were PTC (+10.02%), NPL (+9.97%), PABC (+9.64%), AIRLINK (+8.65%), and BWCL (+8.31%).

On the other hand, top losers were IBFL (-4.09%), SRVI (-3.47%), EFUG (-3.06%), KOSM (-2.83%), and HBL (-2.51%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were MARI (+191.20pts), HUBC (+123.93pts), AIRLINK (+43.24pts), MTL (+42.35pts), and PSO (+40.75pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were HBL (-85.45pts), MCB (-40.27pts), SRVI (-35.41pts), BAHL (-29.66pts), and HMB (-28.57pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+262.40pts), Power Generation & Distribution (+156.46pts), Technology & Communication (+77.14pts), Automobile Assembler (+51.45pts), and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (+50.80pts).

While the index was let down by Commercial Banks (-190.76pts), Leather & Tanneries (-35.41pts), Fertilizer (-28.64pts), Automobile Parts & Accessories (-7.93pts), and Synthetic & Rayon (-7.60pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 66,260.23 with a net gain of 518.66 points or 0.79%.

Total market volume was 1,749.32 million shares compared to 1,766.47m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs50.42 billion showing a decrease of Rs6.21bn.

There were 520,062 trades reported in 467 companies with 258 closing up, 179 closing down, and 30 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 26,659 points or 33.98% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 42,653 points or 68.30% so far this calendar year.
