March 18, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 index closed Monday's trading session at 64,890.51 showing an increase of 74.04 points or 0.11%.

Investors are closely monitoring today's Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) decision, along with key economic data reports.

The index traded in a range of 336.44 points showing an intraday high of 65,148.36 (+331.90) and a low of 64,811.92 (-4.55) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 index was 91.772 million shares.

Advancers to decliners remained equally distributed, with 43 companies closing up and 44 closing down.

Meanwhile 6 were unchanged and 7 remained untraded.

KSE-100 index was supported by Fertilizer with 78, Power Generation & Distribution with 34.2, Commercial Banks with 23.67, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 20.98, and Food & Personal Care Products with 19.99 points.

On the contrary, the index was let down by Cement with 42.65, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 23.27, Chemical with 13.82, Automobile Assembler with 13.59, and Textile Composite with 9.78 points.

Companies adding points to the index were FFC with 51.94, MEBL with 48.26, HUBC with 34.14, EFERT with 24.82, and UBL with 21.9 points.

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were LUCK with 36.44, SYS with 30.67, MCB with 28.34, HBL with 18.04 and COLG with 14.45 points.

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 43,161.67 with a net gain of 4.66 points.

Total market volume was 211.758 million shares compared to 259.373 from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs7.79 billion showing a decrease of Rs2.34bn.

There were 113,172 trades reported in 325 companies with 143 closing up, 157 closing down and 25 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 23,438 points or 56.54% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 2,439 points, equivalent to 3.91%.
