SBP reserves surge $3.06bn to $21.39bn

September 17, 2026 (MLN): The foreign exchange reserves held by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) increased by $3.06 billion or 16.70% WoW to $21.39 billion during the week ended on September 11, 2026, data released by State Bank of Pakistan showed on Thursday.

The increase in SBP’s FX reserves was driven by the receipt of Pakistan’s Eurobond proceeds.

Similarly, the country's total reserves increased by $3.08bn or 12.97% WoW to $26.79bn.

The reserves held by commercial banks rose by $14.6m or 0.27% WoW to $5.4bn.

In the current fiscal year, SBP-held reserves have increased by $2.91bn or 15.80%.

Meanwhile, the current calendar year has seen an increase of $5.33bn or 33.08%.
