PSX Closing Bell: KSE-100 Index recovers by 290.78 points

January 06, 2023 (MLN): The Pakistan Stock Exchange remained in bullish trend throughout the day, as the benchmark KSE-100 index ended first week of the new year higher by 1.45%.

The KSE-100 index on Friday gained 290.78 points (0.71% DoD) to close at 41,097.89 level.

During the market hours, index made an intraday high of 41,097.89 and an intraday low of 40,684.49 during the day.

Throughout the week market added 587.07 points to the index compared to the previous week gain of 751.25 points.

By the session’s end, the total volumes of the KSE-100 index stood at 113.63 shares, increased by 45.51% DoD from 61.92 shares traded on Thursday.

Shares of 88 companies were traded on Friday, of which 45 registered an increase, 40 recorded a fall, and three remained unchanged.

In terms of sectors, most of the positive contributions came from oil & gas exploration, technology, fertilizer, miscellaneous, and investment banks which cumulatively added 367.19 points to the index tally by the day’s end.

Meanwhile, the volume leaders on the benchmark index were CNERGY (27.91mn), KEL (17.66mn), PPL (10.55mn), OGDC (6.02mn), and AVN (5.66mn).

The scrips which gained the most during the session included: PSEL (7.32%), ATRL (7.31%), NRL (6.12%), COLG (0.53%), and SYS (1.64%). On the other hand, the stocks that emerged as net losers during the day included NESTLE (3.74%), MARI (1.64%), ICI (2.38%), MTL (2.93%), and INDU (1.23%).
