December 14, 2022 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index closed in the green zone on Wednesday, gaining 23.32 points (0.06% DoD) to settle at 41,737.62 after making a high of 41,873.91 in intraday trading.

Today, the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed a volatile session due to the absence of investors’ confidence, lack of positive triggers, and industrial closures.

Arif Habib Commodities, Chief Executive Officer Ahsan Mehanti said, speculations over IMF affirmation on the productive discussion on the 9th review enabling revision in macro-economic outlook post floods, leading to release of the next tranche played a catalyst role in positive close.

By the session’s end, the total volumes of the KSE-100 index stood at 53.07mn shares, increased by 20.39% DoD from 66.67mn shares traded on Tuesday.

In terms of sectors, most of the positive contributions came from technology, oil & gas exploration, miscellaneous, textile composite, and chemical which cumulatively added 162.19 points to the index tally by the day’s end.

Out of 93 companies’ shares traded today 37 companies recorded gains and 53 companies sustained losses and three companies’ share remains unchanged.

Meanwhile, the volume leaders on the benchmark index were UNITY (8.26mn), FCCL (5.81mn), BAFL (3.68mn), OGDC (3.09mn), and PPL (2.50mn).

The scrips which gained the most during the session included: PSEL (5.55%), SYS (3.47%), COLG (0.46%), SHFA (5.65%), and APL (0.68%). On the other hand, the stocks that emerged as net losers during the day included RMPL (2.58%), NESTLE (2.65%), PAKT (1.05%), ATLH (2.53%), and MARI (0.35%).
