May 04, 2023 (MLN): The capital market kicked off the session on a bullish note as strong buying activity was observed across the board on the back of strong corporate results. 

However, investors opted for profit booking in the later hours which led the benchmark KSE-100 index to end the session on a flat note to close at 42,093.80, adding only 5.87 points.

The Index traded in a range of 280.16 points of the previous close, showing an intraday high of 42,337.57 and a low of 42,057.41.

Of the 97 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 49 closed up while 48 closed down. The total volume traded for the index was 147.37 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Technology & Communication with 51 points, Commercial Banks with 46 points, Food & Personal Care Products with 39 points, Paper & Board with 20 points and Textile Composite with 12 points.

The most points added to the index were by EFERT which contributed 42 points followed by SYS with 41 points, NESTLE with 25 points, BAHL with 20 points, and PKGS with 19 points.

Sector-wise, the index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 64 points, Automobile Assembler with 26 points, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 19 points, Tobacco with 16 points, and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 15 points.

The most points taken off the index was by ENGRO which stripped the index of 40 points followed by INDU with 21 points, PPL and DAWH with 18 points and OGDC with 17 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 34.57mn to 255.27mn shares. Market Cap increased by Rs11.91 billion.

The total companies traded were 359 compared to 365 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 160 closed up, 177 closed down and 22 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 5,248 to 119,006.

Value Traded decreased by 0.91bn to Rs9.27bn.
