July 26, 2022 (MLN): The domestic equity market remained range-bound throughout the day as it oscillated between red and green zones and closed the session at 39,894.05 with a meager gain of 50.03 points.

The investors remained sideways on the upcoming verdict by Supreme Court pertaining to Punjab’s Chief Minister’s position. Furthermore, currency deterioration has also dented the investors’ confidence.

The Index traded in a range of 428.88 points or 1.08 percent of the previous close, showing an intraday high of 40,135.44 and a low of 39,706.56.

Of the 90 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 50 closed up 40 closed down, while 0 remained unchanged. The total volume traded for the index was 69.04 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Commercial Banks with 24 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 19 points, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 17 points, Technology & Communication with 15 points, and Textile Composite with 15 points.

The most points added to the index were by PSO which contributed 17 points followed by MEBL with 16 points, POL with 14 points, TRG with 13 points, and LOTCHEM with 12 points.

Sector-wise, the index was let down by Automobile Assembler with 16 points, Power Generation & Distribution with 14 points, Fertilizer with 12 points, Leather & Tanneries with 4 points, and Automobile Parts & Accessories with 4 points.

The most points taken off the index was by HUBC which stripped the index of 14 points followed by INDU with 13 points, BAFL with 9 points, ENGRO with 7 points, and MARI with 6 points.

All share volume increased by 56.43 million to 131.86mn shares. Market cap increased by Rs10 billion.

Total companies traded were 302 compared to 289 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 148 closed up, 130 closed down while 24 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 25,366 to 72,982.

Value Traded increased by 2.37bn to Rs4.21bn
