PSX Closing Bell: And now for Something Completely Different

March 10, 2022 (MLN): The capital market remained bullish throughout the session on Thursday, witnessing an intraday high of 43,867.93 to settle the benchmark KSE-100 index at 43,853.62 with a notable gain of 810.66 points.

Following the global equity markets, investors cheered the substantial decline in commodity prices, particularly oil which pushed the trading floor towards heavy buying activity.

Moreover, the international crisis between Ukraine and Russia has seen somewhat composure which also boosted the investors’ confidence, post-market closing note by Aba Ali Habib Securities noted.

Of the 94 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 80 closed up 12 closed down, while 2 remained unchanged. The total volume traded for the index was 83.79 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Cement with 217 points, Commercial Banks with 199 points, Technology & Communication with 128 points, Automobile Assembler with 41 points and Textile Composite with 34 points.

The most points added to the index was by LUCK which contributed 104 points followed by SYS with 85 points, MEBL with 52 points, MTL with 38 points and UBL with 38 points.

Sector-wise, the index was let down by Sugar & Allied Industries with 4 points and Cable & Electrical Goods with 3 points.

The most points taken off the index was by POL which stripped the index of 18 points followed by FFC with 13 points, SML with 4 points, PAEL with 3 points and APL with 3 points.

All Share Volume increased by 88.20 million to 271.91 million shares. Market Cap increased by Rs103.90 billion.

Total companies traded were 356 compared to 341 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 242 closed up, 95 closed down while 19 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 17,298 to 107,958.

Value Traded increased by 1.43 billion to Rs7.50 billion
