President Alvi urges necessary steps to meet country's electricity needs

September 28, 2018: President Dr. Arif Alvi on Friday called for necessary measures to meet the electricity requirements of the country and particularly of its commercial hub Karachi.

The President expressed these views in a meeting with a delegation of K-Electric comprising its Chairman Tayyab Tareen, CEO Moonis Alvi and Chief Generation and Transmission Officer Dele Sinkler at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.

President Alvi said in addition to power generation, focus should also be laid on improving the power transmission system, decreasing line losses and curbing theft of electricity for the provision of interrupted supply of electricity to domestic and commercial consumers as it is one of the priorities of the government.

The K-Electric delegation briefed the President on the electricity requirements of Karachi and the steps being taken to improve the system.
