June 05, 2023 (MLN): The target of increasing bilateral trade volume between Pakistan and Turkey to $5 billion annually over the next 3 years is very much achievable, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said during a meeting with heads of leading Turkish business groups on Saturday.
Taking his Twitter handle on Sunday, he informed, “In my meetings with heads of leading Turkish business groups yesterday, I highlighted the need for investment & trade in the fields of agriculture, energy, information technology and construction.”
Exciting opportunities have emerged for collaboration especially after the historic Trade-in-Goods Agreement between Pakistan & Turkiye became operational on May 31 this year, he added.
He expressed his gratification to find discernible interest of the Turkish business community in building on the existing partnerships and establishing new ventures.
The PM met with the Turkish business community that is already operating in Pakistan, including Anadolu Group, Arcelik, Zorlu, Albayrak, Limak, Dolsar, Turkish Contractors Association and Pak Yetirim.
He urged them to take advantage of the favorable investment climate and grow their business operations.
The prime minister was on a two-day official visit to Turkiye to attend the inauguration ceremony of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
