PKR weakens by 20 paisa per USD

April 23, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) weakened by 19.85 paisa or 0.07% against the US dollar in Wednesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 280.97 per USD, compared to the previous closing of 280.77.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 281.00 and a low (ask) of 280.80.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 280.50 for buying and 282.40 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR rose 2.88 rupees or 0.89% against the Euro, closing at 319.91 compared to the previous value of 322.79.

Against the British Pound, PKR increased by 1.65 rupees or 0.44% to 373.90 compared to 375.54 a day ago.

The local unit gained 4.68 rupees or 1.35% against Swiss franc to close at 341.54.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value strengthened 1.94 paisa or 0.97% to close the session at 1.9805 versus 1.9999 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee decreased 12.14 paisa or 0.32% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.52 from 38.39.

The local currency fell by 5.89 paisa or 0.08% against Saudi Riyal to 74.90. While it deteriorated by 5.51 paisa or 0.07% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.49.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has fell against the US Dollar by 2.63 rupees or 0.93%. While it has deteriorated 2.42 rupees or 0.86% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates unchanged by 0bps to 11.84% and 12.09%.
