August 01, 2023 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) depreciated by 90 Paisa against the US dollar in Tuesday's interbank session as the currency settled the trade at PKR 287.54 per USD, compared to the previous session's closing of PKR 286.64 per USD.
The currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 288.25 and a low (ask) of 288.
In the open market, Exchange Companies quoted the dollar at 289 for buying and 293 for selling.
In comparison to major currencies, PKR gained 37.23 paisa against the Euro, closing at 315.78 compared to the previous value of 316.15.
The British Pound became cheaper by 20.8 paisa closing at 368.22 compared to 368.43 from a day ago.
The Swiss franc saw losses of 98.44 paisa, closing at 328.47 compared to 329.45 from the previous session.
Against the Japanese Yen, PKR lost 0.18 paisa, closing at 2.014 versus 2.012 a day ago.
The Chinese Yuan gained 2.33 paisa, closing at 40.13 against 40.10 from the previous session.
The Saudi Riyal increased in value by 24.53 paisa from 78.04 a day ago to 78.28.
The U.A.E Dirham closed at 76.63 with a gain of 22.28 paisa from its value of 76.41 a day ago.
During the current financial year, PKR has depreciated against the Dollar by 1.55 rupees or 0.54%. While the current calendar year has seen PKR depreciate by 61.11 rupees or 21.25%.
In the Money Market, the benchmark 6-Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 22 bps to 22.75% and 23%.
