PKR trades 2.6 rupee lower against USD

March 25, 2020 (MLN): Pakistani rupee (PKR) depreciated by 2.6 rupees against US Dollar (USD) in today's interbank session as the currency closed the day's trade at PKR 161.61 per USD, against yesterday's closing of PKR 159.01 per USD.

The rupee endured a highly volatile trading session with quotes being recorded in a range of 3.70 rupees per USD showing an intraday high bid of 162.75 and an intraday Low offer of 159.45.

Within the Open Market, PKR was traded at 158.50/160 per USD.

Meanwhile, the currency lost 7 rupees to the Pound Sterling as the day's closing quote stood at PKR 193.36 per GBP, while the previous session closed at PKR 186.33 per GBP.

Similarly, PKR's value weakened by 2.7 rupees against EUR which closed at PKR 175.23 at the interbank today.

On another note, within the money market, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) conducted an Open Market Operation in which it injected Rs.135 billion for 2 days at 11.01 percent.

The overnight repo rate towards close of the session was 11.40/11.60 percent, whereas the 1 week rate was 11.00/11.10 percent.
