PKR strengthens by 20 paisa against greenback

May 05, 2021 (MLN): Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 20 paisa against US Dollar (USD) in today's interbank session as the currency closed the day's trade at PKR 153.04 per USD, against yesterday's closing of PKR 153.24 per USD.

The rupee traded within a very narrow range of 29 paisa per USD showing an intraday high bid of 153.20 and an intraday Low offer of 153.00.

Within the Open Market, PKR was traded at 153/154 per USD.

So far, the local unit has logged by PKR 15 or 9.81% gain against the greenback in FY21 while appreciation has been PKR 6.79 or 4.44% in CY21. MTD (month to date) position showed an increase of 0.27%, as per data compiled by Mettis Global.

Alternatively, the currency lost 14 paisa to the Pound Sterling as the day's closing quote stood at PKR 212.56 per GBP, while the previous session closed at PKR 212.43 per GBP.

On the other hand, PKR's value strengthened by 62 paisa against EUR which closed at PKR 183.45 at the interbank today.

On another note, within the money market, the overnight repo rate towards close of the session was 7.15/7.30 percent, whereas the 1 week rate was 7.05/7.10 percent.
