July 12, 2023 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 1.09 rupees against the US dollar in Wednesday's interbank session as the currency settled the trade at PKR 277.47 per USD, compared to the previous session's closing of PKR 278.56 per USD.
The currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 277.51 and a low (ask) of 277.26.
In the open market, Exchange Companies quoted the dollar at 278 for buying and 279 for selling.
In comparison to major currencies, PKR gained 85.23 paisa against the Euro, closing at 305.90 compared to the previous value of 306.75.
The British Pound became more expensive by 12.27 paisa closing at 359.14 compared to 359.01 from a day ago.
The Swiss franc saw losses of 21.4 paisa, closing at 315.89 compared to 316.10 from the previous session.
Against the Japanese Yen, PKR lost 0.47 paisa, closing at 1.98 versus 1.98 a day ago.
The Chinese Yuan lost 9.5 paisa, closing at 38.58 against 38.68 from the previous session.
The Saudi Riyal decreased in value by 29.95 paisa from 75.84 a day ago to 75.54.
The U.A.E Dirham closed at 73.97 with a loss of 29.33 paisa from its values of 74.26 a day ago.
During the current financial year, PKR has appreciated against the Dollar by 8.51 rupees or 3.07%. While the current calendar year has seen PKR depreciate by 51.05 rupees or 18.4%.
In the Money Market, the benchmark 6-Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched up by 3 bps to 22.77% and 23.02%.
