June 23, 2023 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) depreciated by 0.5 Paisa against the US dollar in Friday's interbank session as the currency settled the trade at PKR 286.73 per USD, compared to the previous session's closing of PKR 286.73 per USD.
The currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 287 and a low (ask) of 286.95.
In the open market, Exchange Companies quoted the dollar at 288 for buying and 292 for selling.
In comparison to major currencies, PKR gained 3.51 rupees against the Euro, closing at 311.66 compared to the previous value of 315.17.
The British Pound became cheaper by 1.44 rupees closing at 364.59 compared to 366.04 a day ago.
The Swiss franc saw losses of 2.33 rupees, closing at 318.36 compared to 320.69 from the previous session.
Against the Japanese Yen, PKR gained 1.24 paisa, closing at 2.0069 versus 2.0193 a day ago.
The Chinese Yuan gained 0.07 paisa, closing at 39.9384 against 39.9377 from the previous session.
The Saudi Riyal increased in value by 0.24 paisa from 78.0623 a day ago to 78.0647.
The U.A.E Dirham closed at 76.4363 with a loss of 0.07 Paisa from its value of 76.437 a day ago.
During the current financial year, PKR has depreciated against the Dollar by 81.89 rupees or 28.56%. While the current calendar year has seen PKR depreciate by 60.3 rupees or 21.03%.
In the Money Market, the benchmark 6-Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 2 bps to 21.88% and 22.13%.
Furthermore, The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) conducted an OMO in which it injected Rs1.33 trillion into the market, of which Rs1.08tr were injected through reverse repo OMO.
While the remaining Rs85 billion was injected through Shariah Compliant Modarabah Based OMO.
