PKR stands firm against USD

April 22, 2019 (MLN): Pakistani Rupee (PKR) continues to hold firmly to its ground against US Dollar (USD) in the first interbank session of the week, as its value remains at PKR 141.396 per USD.

However, against GBP, the local currency has appreciated by 11 paisa as it closed today’s interbank trade at PKR 183.72 per GBP against previous session’s value of PKR 183.83 per GBP.

On the other hand, PKR depreciated slightly by 5 paisa against EUR as it closed today’s trade at PKR 159.05 per EUR against previous session’s closing value of PKR 159 per EUR.

The open market rates today were PKR 141.70/142.70.

Meanwhile in the money market, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) conducted an Open Market Operation in which it mopped up Rs.147.50 billion for 4 days.

In the meantime, the overnight repo rate towards close of session was 9.5/10.00 percent and 1 Week rate was 10.25/10.70 percent.
