PKR loses 17 paisa against greenback

January 05, 2023 (MLN): Pakistani rupee (PKR) depreciated by 17 paisa against US Dollar (USD) in today's interbank session as the currency settling the day's trade at PKR227.12 per USD, against yesterday's closing of PKR226.95 per USD.

During the session, the rupee traded in a band of 20 paisa per USD showing an intraday high bid of 227.10 and low offer of 227 while in the open market, PKR was traded at 233.53/235.86 per USD.

Alternatively, the currency gained 32 paisa against the Pound Sterling as the day's closing quote stood at PKR 272.84 per GBP, while the previous session closed at PKR 273.16 per GBP.

On the other hand, PKR's value weakened by 61 paisa against EUR which closed at PKR 241.2 at the interbank today.

In FYTD, PKR lost 22.27 rupees or 9.81%, while it plummeted by 0.31% against the USD in the last seven sessions, as per data compiled by Mettis Global.

On another note, within the money market, the overnight repo rate towards close of the session was 15.15/15.40 percent, whereas the 1-week rate was 15.45/15.55 percent.
