April 22, 2024 (MLN): The trading activity at the Pakistan Mercantile Exchange (PMEX) on Friday surged to Rs37.26 billion, marking a significant 43% DoD jump compared to the previous session close of Rs26.06bn.

At the same time, with a rise of 45.5% DoD in the number of lots traded, 25,540 lots changed hands, compared to 17,520 during the previous session. While, the commodity exchange closed at 10,280, up by 1.04% DoD.

Gold remained in the limelight, contributing significantly to the trading volume with transactions worth Rs18.65 billion. Following closely behind, NSDQ 100 recorded trading valued at Rs4.91bn.

Currencies through COTS also made a prominent spot, clocking in at Rs3.99bn. In addition, Platinum, Crude Oil, and Silver attracted substantial attention from investors as well and their transactions stood around Rs1.44bn, Rs2.98bn, and Rs3.55bn, respectively.

Moreover, transactions of Natural Gas transactions reached Rs152m, DJ at Rs646m, Copper at Rs197.6m, SP 500 at Rs272.37m, and Brent at Rs77.77m.

In the agricultural commodities segment, Cotton saw active trading, with 42 lots amounting to Rs45.87m changing hands.
