PKR falls 5 paisa against USD

January 14, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) weakened by 4.72 paisa or 0.02% against the US dollar in Tuesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 278.72 per USD, compared to previous closing of 278.68.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 278.75 and a low (ask) of 278.65.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 278.50 for buying and 280.45 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR decreased 1.04 rupees or 0.36% against the Euro, closing at 285.70 compared to the previous value of 284.67.

Against the British Pound, PKR weakened by 1.95 rupees or 0.58% to 340.19 compared to 338.24 a day ago.

The local unit decreased 51.65 paisa or 0.17% against Swiss franc to close at 304.50.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value appreciated 0.03 paisa or 0.02% to close the session at 1.7701 versus 1.7704 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee decreased 1.11 paisa or 0.03% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.02 from 38.01.

The local currency weakened by 1.26 paisa or 0.02% against Saudi Riyal to 74.25. While it decreased by 1.29 paisa or 0.02% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.88.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has fell against the US Dollar by 38.10 paisa or 0.14%. While it has depreciated 17.22 paisa or 0.06% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates unchanged by 0bps to 11.62% and 11.87%.
