PKR falls 5 paisa against USD

October 30, 2024 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) deteriorated by 5 paisa or 0.02% against the US dollar in Wednesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 277.79 per USD, compared to previous closing of 277.74.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 277.90 and a low (ask) of 277.75.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 276.81 for buying and 278.66 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR decreased 48.46 paisa or 0.16% against the Euro, closing at 300.72 compared to the previous value of 300.24.

Against the British Pound, PKR deteriorated by 94.00 paisa or 0.26% to 361.34 compared to 360.40 a day ago.

The local unit appreciated 38.59 paisa or 0.12% against Swiss franc to close at 320.24.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value strengthened 0.05 paisa or 0.03% to close the session at 1.8126 versus 1.8131 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee depreciated 9.60 paisa or 0.25% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.99 from 38.89.

The local currency fell by 1.33 paisa or 0.02% against Saudi Riyal to 73.97. While it deteriorated by 1.36 paisa or 0.02% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.63.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has strengthened against the US Dollar by 54.89 paisa or 0.20%. While it has increased 4.07 rupees or 1.46% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates fell by 12 bps to 13.63% and 13.88%.
