June 13, 2023 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) depreciated by 34.6 Paisa against the US dollar in Tuesday's interbank session as the currency settled the trade at PKR 287.973 per USD, compared to the previous session's closing of PKR 287.627 per USD.
The Currency was quoted in a range of 10 paisa, touching an intraday high (bid) of 288.0 and a low (ask) of 287.9.
In the open market, Exchange Companies quoted the dollar at 300.0 for selling and 303.0 for buying.
In comparison to major currencies, PKR lost 1.25 Rupees against the Euro, closing at 311.1836 compared to the previous value of 309.9324.
The British Pound became cheaper by 22.67 Paisa closing at 361.8381 compared to 362.0648 a day ago.
The Swiss franc saw losses of 55.14 Paisa, closing at 318.2725 compared to 318.8239 a the previous session.
Against the Japanese Yen, PKR lost 0.23 Paisa, closing at 2.0641 versus 2.0618 a day ago.
The Chinese Yuan lost 1.56 Paisa, closing at 40.2717 against 40.2873 from the previous session.
The Saudi Riyal increased in value by 9.53 Paisa from 78.3095 a day ago to 78.4048.
The U.A.E Dirham closed at 76.7846 with a gain of 9.23 Paisa from its values of 76.6923 a day ago.
During the current financial year, PKR has depreciated against the Dollar by 83.13 Rupees or 28.87%. While the current calendar year has seen PKR depreciate by 61.54 Rupees or 21.37%.
In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 2.0 bps to 21.86% and 22.11%.
