March 25, 2024 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) remained relatively flat against the US dollar in Monday's interbank session as the currency settled the trade at PKR 278.13 per USD, compared to the previous session's closing of PKR 278.14 per USD.
The currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 278.25 and a low (ask) of 278.
Last week, the home unit extended its winning journey against the mighty Dollar by appreciating 60 paisa.
In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 278.09 for buying and 280.73 for selling.
In comparison to major currencies, PKR gained 18.27 paisa against the Euro, closing at 300.85 compared to the previous value of 301.03.
The British Pound became cheaper by 6.01 paisa closing at 350.59 compared to 350.65 from a day ago.
The Swiss franc saw gains of 48.31 paisa, closing at 309.73 compared to 309.25 from the previous session.
Against the Japanese Yen, PKR lost 0.1 paisa, closing at 1.8382 versus 1.8372 a day ago.
The Chinese Yuan gained 11.31 paisa, closing at 38.59 against 38.48 from the previous session.
The Saudi Riyal closed stable at 74.16.
The U.A.E Dirham decreased in value by 0.09 paisa from 75.73 a day ago to 75.74.
During the current financial year, PKR has appreciated against the Dollar by 7.87 rupees or 2.83%. While the current calendar year has seen PKR appreciate by 3.74 rupees or 1.34%.
In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched up by 6 bps to 21.35% and 21.6%.
