PKR appreciates by 45 paisa at interbank trade

July 03, 2019 (MLN): Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 45 paisa against US Dollar (USD) in today's interbank session as the currency closed the day's trade at PKR 157.61 per USD, against yesterday's closing of PKR 158.06 per USD.

The rupee endured a highly volatile trading session with quotes being recorded in a range of 1.45 rupees per USD showing an intraday high bid of 158.25 and an intraday Low offer of 157.00.

In the second session, PKR appreciated further and was quoted at 156.80/157.0 before easing to 157.25/157.45

Meanwhile, the currency gained 2.5 rupees against the Pound Sterling as the day's closing quote stood at PKR 198.17 per GBP, while the previous session closed at PKR 199.28 per GBP.

Similarly, PKR's value strengthened by 62 paisa against EUR which closed at PKR 177.88 at the interbank today.

Within the Open Market, PKR was traded at 157.5/159.5 per USD.

On another note, within the money market, the overnight repo rate towards close of the session was 11.90/12.00 percent, whereas the 1 week rate was 12.15/12.30 percent.
