Pakistan’s Weekly SPI decreases by 0.01 percent

According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the weekly SPI for the combined group declined by 0.01 percent compared to last week (Oct 18, 2018) and increased by 5.82 percent compared to corresponding period from last year.

Meanwhile, the SPI for the lowest income group up to Rs 8,000 also remained unchanged  by (0.00) percent as it was recorded  at 219.33 points in the previous week to 219.33 points in the week under review.

As compared to the last week, the SPI for the income groups from Rs 8001-12,000, Rs 12,001-18,000, 18,001-35,000 and above Rs 35000 also decreased by 0.01 percent, 0.01 percent, 0.02  percent and 0.01 percent respectively.

Of the 53 items monitored, the average price of 20 items increased 7 decreased while 26 remained unchanged.

The items which registered decrease in their prices during the week under review included onions, LPG cylinder (i11kg) rice irri-6, pulse moong (washed), pulse gram (washed) and gur average quality.

The items which recorded increase in their average prices included potatoes, salt powder, wheat, garlic, eggs (farm), bananas, chicken farm (live), red chilly, cooked dal, sugar, milk powder, cooked beef, wheat flour, vegetable ghee (tin), cooking oil (tin), pulse mash, vegetable ghee (loose), mutton, and rice basmati.

The prices of the daily commodities, which remained unchanged during the period under review including bread plain, milk fresh, mustard oil, pulse masoor, tea, cigarette, curd, long cloth, shirting, lawn, georgette, gents sandal, gents chappal, ladies sandal, electricity, gas charges, kerosene oil, fire wood, electric bulb, washing soap, match box, petrol, hi-sped diesel, telephone calls and bath soap.
