January 19, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan intends to tap into China’s capital markets by June 2025 through the issuance of Panda Bonds, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb revealed during an interview with Hong Kong’s TVB News.

Through this bond issuance, the country aims to raise approximately $200 million from Chinese investors, the minister stated.

The government is focused on transitioning the economy towards export-led growth to achieve sustainability in the balance of payments, he added.

Highlighting the importance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Phase 2 (CPEC 2.0), the minister noted that the next phase will attract more Chinese companies and investments to Pakistan.

“We are committed to enhancing financial cooperation with Hong Kong,” Aurangzeb said, inviting Hong Kong to send delegations to explore trade and financial opportunities in Pakistan.

The finance minister also remarked that Hong Kong could serve as an ideal hub for joint ventures between Chinese and Pakistani companies, fostering stronger economic ties.
